Once again, you are going to be shocked at how many activities you can find in this small area of Portugal. I was quite pleasantly surprised at all the offerings. If you are looking for information about Tavira beaches, check out this post: Ilha de Tavira. Otherwise, check out the list below.
Art Classes
The ART Studio Tavira offers year-long classes that meet weekly. They use a fun mix of learning methods to help you explore your technical and artistic side.
Book Clubs
Book Clubs are usually found by word of mouth. However, if you are desperate to find one, I´m sure I can get some recommendations for you.
Crafts
Crafternoon on Facebook holds weekly crafting get togethers at Tavira Plaza. Each person brings their own “portable” craft and works on it while enjoying a coffee & socializing.
DOT Painting
Paint & Create on Facebook will travel to Tavira to do parties and occasionally will have classes in Cabanas or Tavira. Most classes are held in Albufeira.
Games
There are a couple groups that play games at the Black Anchor
Live Music
The best place to search for Live Music is on Facebook. Many restaurants and bars use Facebook to post their music & events. Black Anchor in Tavira and Murphy’s Irish Bar in Cabanas consistently have live music. I’ve also seen quite a few posts on the East Algarve Adventurous People group. Lastly, Clube de Tavira on Liberdade has Jazz Jam Sessions on Thursday nights.
Line Dancing
Yes! Line Dancing in Portugal!! Check out the details here: Tavira Line Dancing on Facebook.
Olive Factory Tour
The Olive Factory in Tavira has a really nice tour of their facility along with tastings.
Photography
Monika is an amazing photographer with a personality that brightens up any room! She offers photography classes throughout the year. Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or just want to take your photos to the next level, Monika’s your go-to person. You can learn more about her on Facebook at Photography with Monika’s Photo Life.
Salt Spa
SPA Salino is an experience you don’t want to miss. This unique experience has two parts: First, you soak in a salt pan filled with mineralized salt water for 30-40 minutes. Then, you exit the salt plan and spread saline clay all over your body. You keep the clay on until it dries, then use one of their outdoor showers to rinse all the mud off. Visit their Facebook page for more information.
Trivia
Trivia is a big hit here! Black Anchor hosts regular trivia nights that support local animal shelters and other charities. The Hippo Cocktail Bar in Cabanas is a charming little bar that hosts trivia every Friday at 2 pm. This one’s just for fun, but be warned…it’s packed with British trivia! Luckily, we still have a great time even though we always lose!
Water Fun
Sandra, the owner of Eolis, is one of the most kind people I’ve met here. She’s been in business over 20 years and offers fun activities like Paddleboarding (SUP), Kite Surfing, WindSUP and Arial Yoga on the beach!
