Comboios de Portugal (CP) has a few different services.
- Alfa Pendular – Faro to Braga
- Intercidades – Faro to the larger cities in Portugal
- Regional and InterRegional – These are the trains used in each region. Our regional train runs from Vila Real Santo de António to Lagos. The Interregional train begins in Lisbon & doesn’t directly connect to the Algarve.

Green Rail Pass
If you plan on traveling by train frequently, look into the Green Rail Pass!
- Cost: €20 per month.
- Validity: 30 consecutive days from the date of purchase or chosen start date.
- Eligibility: Portuguese residents only.
- Required Item: A CP Card must be obtained and loaded with the pass.
- Coverage: Valid on all trains except Alfa Pendular, which requires a reservation.

Rome2Rio is an app that provides directions for all the travel options: Plane, Train, Bus and Ride Share.
Google Maps is a really good tool to look up options for public transportation on the day of travel. It provides the times, train/bus numbers & platforms for the next available choices.
